Dentons partner serves as course co-chair for the CLEBC’s Forestry Law 2020 course

Working alongside Thomas Moran of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada, Dentons Partner Robin Longe recently organized and served as course co-chair of the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC)’s Forestry Law course in British Columbia, Canada.

With exceptional insight in today’s forestry landscape, Robin collaborated with industry peers to provide an update on the latest policies, legislation, issues, and trends in the area of forestry law. The topics covered in the course included:

  • Highlights of Changes in BC Forest Law in 2020;
  • Overview of Crown Timber Tenure Regulation in BC;
  • The Province's Claim to Timber from Private Managed Forests—Analysis of Selkirk Mountain Forest's Judicial Review;
  • Negotiating First Nations Forestry Arrangements;
  • Litigation Update: Wildfire Act/Best Practices for Conducting an Opportunity to be Heard Under the Forest and Range Practices Act; and
  • Case Law Roundup: Recent Decisions of Interest.

In addition to Robin and Thomas, the course faculty was made up of Jeffery Waatainen and Amy Pressman of DLA Piper, Tamara Napoleon of Miller Titerle + Co., Xenia Kritsos of Interfor Corporation, Brook Greenberg of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, and Daniel Bennett, QC, and Sarah McCalla of Norton Rose Fulbright Canada.
