Posting Date: 2018.04.18

Recently, a team led by Counsel Calvin Chiu, supported by associates Kemeng Cai, Donghui Ruan, and Bella Zhu, advised a legal-tech company on design and establishment of a data compliance system.

China's Cyber Security Law has entered into force on June 1, 2017. Subsequently, regulators have been strengthening enforcement on cybersecurity, personal information protection, and data compliance, so, challenges facing businesses driven by data application have become increasingly prominent.

In addition to drafting and developing account agreements, usage agreements, privacy policies, internal data compliance manuals, and data access guidelines for the client, the team also advised on hot issues such as data masking, data analysis and transaction, and data collection for commercial marketing. Moreover, our lawyers also provided professional analysis and suggestions on regulatory trends with regard to some cutting-edge issues, such as commercial cryptographic products and electronic certification.

The team's high-quality legal service was widely acknowledged by the client. Consequently, Dentons has been retained by the client as its exclusive legal advisor in China.
